What are you reading?

So many books and so little time. There are many of you out there reading some great books! I would love to hear about them. Please tell me what you are reading, who the author is (just in case someone else wants to read it) a short summary of your book, and whether you would recommend your book or not. This is a great way to share so give it a try!

I started reading the Secrets of Dripping Fang by Dan Greenburg. I just finished book one – The Onts. I thought it was a cool and exciting book. My favorite characters were the two children and the ten foot glowing slugs that eat your feet to your ankles. You’ll just have to read the book to understand. I am now reading book two of the Dripping Fang Series and it is called – Treachery and Betrayal at Jolly Days. I would recommend this for anyone who likes weird and exciting stories.

    Brendan (2nd gr.),
Thank you for sharing what you have been reading. The Secrets of Dripping Fang have been a popular series in the library. I’ve ordered more copies so more students can read them. Keep on reading and sharing.

    Dear Andrew I,
Thank you for your post. I’m glad you like Hank the Cowdog and since you do there are many other Hank books that you can read and would enjoy as well. If you would like to start a new series The Time Warp Trio by Jon Scieszka is a great series as well. Again thanks for the post and the huge compliment.

    Mrs. Henry,
Thanks for reading us the book about Scaredy Squirrel. I am enjoying reading the second scaredy squirrel book because it is funny. I like the warning sign in the front best. Zack and Cody are my favorite boys. I have been reading one of their chapter books. Can you get any of these in our library? I think you are a great librarian

    Dear Jake,
I love Scaredy Squirrel too. I can’t wait for more books about him, but he is quite the germaphobic nut which is great! I should probably take a few pointers from him. Zack and Cody are great guys. I will look into getting some of their books, but it might be next year before I have money to get any for the library – but we will see. Thank you for the compliment. I love my job because I’m around great kids like you all day!

I am in the process of reading the book called “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” . It is a very good book by Kate DiCamillo and I would suggest to anyone who loves a good adventurous, and intriging book. I can hardly put it down!!

I am reading Clara Barton: A biography for a report. I am enjoying it but it is not the best book I have ever read!! But it is good.

    Sam,
Your comment made me laugh – thank you! I know sometimes reading nonfiction titles aren’t as fun, but you have to admit we learn a lot from them. So what has been the best book you have ever read?

    Dear Miss Bailey,
I love the Miraculous Journey of Edward Toulane as well. I can’t decide if it’s my favorite by Kate DiCamillo or The Tale of Despereaux. I’m always recommending those two books to readers. I’m ready for a new book by Kate DiCamillo. I know it will be just as good or better. Thank you for your comment and suggestion to others. Enjoy the ending!

I have in the past also read the series called the Hercules Jones Mysteries, and they are very good mystery books, too. I have really enjoyed reading over the years that I have been able to read. And I can’t wait to enjoy many more years of reading in my future.

I’m so glad you like to read. I just got through reading Up the Road Slowly by Irene Hunt. It was an excellent book – great for 5th grade girls moving on to middle school. It was the 1967 Newbery Winner. Maybe you would like to try it out someday too.
    See you later!

I started reading the Boxcar Children books in 2nd grade and ever since 3rd grade I have read the Hardy Boys books. They are exciting and have some twists that leave you wondering between chapters.I recommend the Boxcar Children for younger readers and the Hardy Boys Books for older boy readers.

    Mrs. Henry,
I have been reading at the Paris Public Library this summer.
They have had lots of neat shows. I will come visit your
library soon. I am happy to be coming to the first grade.
